Time for CDN Homegrown Energy Vision based Innovation & Evolution NOT Elimination of the oil & gas industry in Canada:
Decarbonization & CDN Unity Building Through Science & Engineering that does not assume that we have to eliminate the oil and gas industry to reduce global emissions. And that suggests a different energy vision that of homegrown energy innovation and evolution NOT elimination, based on science and engineering can help reduce global emissions through a committment to support for energy R&D over the long term i.e. CANDU's development over many years and now the export of CANDU to the world-no need for enriched uranium from the US/Russia!
The new context that CDN needs is that of replacing climate change politics, public relations and doomsday negative media with fact, science & engineering that actually reduces global emissions. The following examples are cited to provide concrete examples that this new energy vision is possible right now, & with appropriate investment in energy R&D more breakthroughs will be made in the future!
In this regard there is no better example of that then the development of the CANDU nuclear reactor. Through the creativity of engineers in ON/QB unusable uranium in SK is able to be used to generate clean energy, without the need of enriched urnanium from either the US or Russia. And the history of its use in the city of Toronto has demonstrated its impact on reducing emissions! Or for that matter CANDU reactors could be used to help decarbonize the oilsands!
Next up I would add the original chemical engineering work of Nobel winning Rodney Allam who has demonstrated that you can generate clean energy using a fossil fuel-natural gas in two new startups.

NET Power for the use of natural gas to generate clean electrity

8RH2 for the use of natural gas to produce clean hydrogen/ammonia

I would add the example of Remora moblie carbon capture that could be used to decarbonize the transport of AB oil by rail through BC & to refineries in Sarnia & Montreal. No need to wait for pipelines!

Finnally, I would add Gold H2 " biotechnology platform that converts end-of-life oil reservoirs into clean hydrogen assets. This work integrates microbial science, reservoir engineering, and commercial modelling to address one of the most challenging barriers to clean hydrogen: affordability at scale."

Lastly is the use of CDN canola for the creation of biodiesel that can be used in traditional diesel engines, and that emits a lot less emissions. Imperial Oil has done this in their Strathcona biodiesel refinery in Alberta:

All of the above examples point to the logic of energy R&D investment in Canada that is good for CDN unity, the CDN economy and that helps the world reduce global emissions through the use of cleaner than coal CDN energy in the form of hydro to the US, & natural gas, CANDU & Eavor geothermal right now to the world, and brand new CDN energy decarbonization innovations as they are developed like Gold H2 & Imperial Oil's canola based biodiesel that can be used in trasitional diesel engines!
